Cold Song
Music composed by: Henry Purcell
Music arrangement by: Susumu Hirasawa
Japanese lyrics written by: Susumu Hirasawa
(Translation in English)
.
Woke up feeling like stabbed by quartz
The moon of exhaustion still at the window
.
They say,
Freeze in the coming night
And look at the fire shown
Listen to the voiceless scorching heat
That we make you listen to
.
Like being cremated, being frozen to death
Leave the coming days
And look at the fire shown
.
Paralyzed and crazy slaves
Facing the evil atmosphere all around
Travelling in vain
Crying in vain
Dying in vain
.
Of the disappearing heart
The depths of the dark genome
Calling you, "Show
YOURSELF making the human fire bloom"
.
Woke up feeling like stabbed by quartz
Night of repulsion all around
.
Take the key to erase
The old ice prison
That has not existed from the beginning
.

※Notes:
Devoicing vowels in this song:
A lot of "devoicing of vowels" in Japanese language are used in the pronunciation of this song. In standard Japanese (based on Tokyo accent) and in some dialects such as Kyushu dialects, vowels /i/ and /u/ become voiceless when placed between two voiceless consonants or, unless accented, between a voiceless consonant and a pausa[end of a sentence]. This is a normal pronunciation in spoken Japanese, but these pronunciations are often become voiced when sung in songs. However, Susumu Hirasawa kept these pronunciation devoiced intentionally.
Examples: /u/→【ɯ̥】 /i/→【i̥】 (These vowels are pronounced as whispering sounds, or simply not pronounced.)
Other unusual pronunciations:
Hirasawa pronounced the words /kuru/ as KuR【u】, /yoru/ as yoR【u】, and /sari/ as saR【i】, pronouncing the /r/ like a trilled /r/ in Italian language, which I indicated as R. And the vowels followed that R are not pronounced at all or pronounced very weak. This way of pronunciation of /r/ is unusual in common Japanese language. You may say it is an unusual way of pronunciation unique to Hirasawa.
※By using these unique ways of pronouncing Japanese, the song somehow sounds like a different language from Japanese.
Cold Song
(Lyrics in Japanese)
.
