クリス・ペプラー：でもオリジナリティーがある...

米津玄師：そうそう

クリス・ペプラー：それでやっぱりそこの部分に影響されたんだろうね。なんか聞いたことあるような感じではないという

米津玄師：この「Mother」っていう曲は、ほんとに聞いたことが無いような新しい音楽なんだけれども、でもなんかどっかに懐かしさだとか、郷愁感だとか、そういうものを宿してるんですよね。それはやっぱ、何か普遍的な何かがあるんだろうな、と思ったし、すごいバランス感覚で成り立っている音楽だなって。そういうバランス感覚を自分も大事にしていきたい、と思い始めたのかもしれないですね。

クリス・ペプラー：本人とは接触は今までにありますか？

米津玄師：いや、無いですね。

クリス・ペプラー：無いんだ。会ってみたいとか思う？

米津玄師：ああうん、なんか逆に会いたくないですね。

クリス・ペプラー：そうだね、分かるような気がする。

米津玄師：本当に尊敬する人って、あんまり、こう、会いたくないなあって。

クリス・ペプラー：そうなんだよね。だって本当に尊敬する人は食い入るように見ちゃうもんね。

米津玄師：はは(笑)

I started watching Nico Nico Douga movie site at that time, and I started to post my music there, too, and I found Susumu Hirasawa was treated as some kind of god of music in the web site. That was how I got to know his music. How shall I explain...his music is very oriental, and I don't know how to put it, but I thought it was a kind of music I had never heard at first...

Chris Peppler: I guess that part had an influence on your music. You had never heard that kind of music...

Kenshi Yonezu: This song, "Mother" was a new kind of music that I had never heard truly, and at the same time, I felt a kind of nostalgic feeling or a sense of nostalgia. His music embraces that kind of element in it, too. And I thought his music had something universal, and was created on the basis of the great balance of many elements.
